What is stereo?

There are now two system of high fidelity, monophonic (monaural) and stereophonic. Monophonic is a system that starts from one microphone and is fed through a single high fidelity set. Stereophonic is a double system. Two separate microphones are placed at different sides of the orchestra and two different systems are used to keep the two signals or channels separated. Two separate speakers are used, placed on different sides of you room. Stereo is much like 3-D photography, two slightly different sound reach your ears giving you a new dimension in sound.

PEARL EVOLUTION "Ballerina 301"

The “Ballerina 301” in an unconventional loudspeaker design.
Its highly rigid integrated supporting structure is made with 25 high pressure curved and counter-veined layers of wood.
The structure high rigidity and the absence of a traditional separated front baffle effectively oppose their strength to the back force of the drivers allowing them to express their full dynamic potential.

Every form of energy always follows the easiest path to its transmission.
Vibration is energy.
The peculiar counter veined plywood structure of the "Ballerina 301" is designed to offer a single preferential path to the flow of vibrations, as visible in the scheme on below.
The thicker and stiffer back structure collects the energy making it inefficient, and the eventual residuals are completely dispersed in the high mass “delta” structure at the bottom of the loudspeaker. Furthermore the absence of closed enclosures in the main frame provides vibrations no element that may resonate.

The peculiar cabinet construction of the "Ballerina 301" gives this loudspeaker a very special sound emission.
The isodynamic tweeter is completely embodied in the wood to express its full dynamics.
The inverted dome midrange, thanks to its peculiar free space positioning and its carefully controlled back volume emits a back “coloration” that pleasingly contributes to the richness of the ambience (see scheme on left side).
The magnesium-aluminium alloy woofer, and its graphite mass loaded polyurethane box have, as well, a back emission, this creates a non invasive ambience sound (see scheme on the left). The bass is loaded trough a semi-Venturi double chamber that allows a very limited blow and a perfect phase matching of the driver.
