What is stereo?

There are now two system of high fidelity, monophonic (monaural) and stereophonic. Monophonic is a system that starts from one microphone and is fed through a single high fidelity set. Stereophonic is a double system. Two separate microphones are placed at different sides of the orchestra and two different systems are used to keep the two signals or channels separated. Two separate speakers are used, placed on different sides of you room. Stereo is much like 3-D photography, two slightly different sound reach your ears giving you a new dimension in sound.

Marantz Model 5010

Model 5010
The least expensive Marantz cassette deck… but still very much a Marantz. And that means the 5010 gives you the same painstaking craftsmanship and engineering standard that characterize every Marantz audio product.
Built-in  is an impressive number of the design, super-hard permalloy head, professional VU meters. All ten features described in detail at the left are identical with those in the Marantz 5030 and 5025. And a DC motor system ensures extremely steady tape speed, helping keep wow and flutter low.

Inside and out, 5010 is every inch a Marantz. Even so, we've managed to keep the price down to what you might expect to pay for an ordinary cassette deck.
