What is stereo?

There are now two system of high fidelity, monophonic (monaural) and stereophonic. Monophonic is a system that starts from one microphone and is fed through a single high fidelity set. Stereophonic is a double system. Two separate microphones are placed at different sides of the orchestra and two different systems are used to keep the two signals or channels separated. Two separate speakers are used, placed on different sides of you room. Stereo is much like 3-D photography, two slightly different sound reach your ears giving you a new dimension in sound.

Pioneer SE-500

High-Performance High-Polymer stereo headphones for clear sound reproduction and lightweight comfort.
Success repeats itself in this, the second generation of Pioneer's original high-polymer stereo headphones. The SE-500 are based on the unusual electrophysical effect called piezoelectrics. As the audio signal reaches the ultra-thin, aluminum-coated high-polymer film drivers, they expand and contract accordingly in an ideal "breathing motion" for impressively natural, quite unmechanical audio response. Tonal characteristics are comparable to those of the electrostatic type headphones, yet you need no matching transformer; the SE-500 plug directly into the headphone jack of your amplifier or receiver. Crystal earphones, ceramic cartridges and other low-class audio uses have been found for the piezoelectric effect in the past, but never with the resonance-free, brilliantly simple high fidelity results obtained in these revolutionary piezo-polymer stereo headphones form Pioneer.
 High-Polymer Film Diaphragm
Wide range reproduction from solid lows to transparent highs is assured, thanks to the unique "breathing motion" of the high-polymer film diaphragms in the SE-500. as the effective diaphragm area is wide, amplitude is minimized to further reduce distortion and clarity response.

Lightest headphones
Lightweight, non-bulky headphones like these greatly enhance your music-listening pleasure. These are among the lightest, easiest to use non-isolating stereo headphones sold.

Maximum Sensitivity and Efficiency
The sensitivity, or efficiency of the Pioneer SE-500 is an important advantage over conventional types, comparing favorably with the electrostatic types yet enabling you to power them directly from your receiver or amplifier without need for a matching transformer.

High Endurance for large Input Signals
The SE-500 feature a high endurance to accept large input signals. This means that dynamic sound reproduction on a  par with that heard in a concert hall, is yours for realistic musical reproduction.

Excellent Stability
Changes in temperature and hunidity do not hamper the stanility of the SE-500. You can depend on constant and uniform performance under all conditions and for long hours of use.

Luxury Design
Slim, smart and stylish. The lightweight, open type (on-the-ear) design and duraable materials of the SE-500 contribute significantly to their appeal.
